MAP LAYERS
Tableau maps consist of two components: background maps and the marks shown on top. Tableau's default background map comes in three styles: Light, Normal, and Dark.
These can be selected by choosing Maps and then Map Layers in the main menu. In addition to the style, many other components of the background map can be configured in the Map Layers pane, as shown in Figure 6.5.

These include borders, coastlines, and country names. The Data Layer section offers the possibility to add certain socio‐economic statistics as shaded areas to the background map. These are only available for the territory of the United States.
