Creating VPC peering
Instances in a VPC are isolated from other VPCs. We need to create VPC peering to communicate between instances using the private IPv4 or IPv6 IPs. You can create peering between two VPCs in the same region. Both the VPCs can either belong to the same AWS account or different accounts. Here we'll learn how to create VPC peering between two VPCs in one account.
Getting ready
Log in to the console with the appropriate permissions.
How to do it...
The steps to create VPC peering are as follows:
- Browse to the AWS VPC console. In the left menu option, choose
Peering Connections
underVirtual Private Cloud

Create Peering Connection
- Click on
Create Peering Connection
. Provide thePeering connection name tag
,VPC (Requester)
andVPC (Accepter)
. Click onCreate Peering Connection

Pending Acceptance
