Objective 3.4 – Perform VMFS and NFS configurations and upgrades
The following part is similar and complementary to Objective 3.1, with some repetition, but also with more details related to VMFS and NFS datastores.
From a logic point of view, it could be better to read both sections at the same time.
Note
Objective 3.4 for VCP65-DCV and VCP6-DCV are quite similar just because there weren't big changes in those storage functions from vSphere 6.0 to vSphere 6.5. It's just VMFS6 that's totally new.
For more information and details, see the vSphere 6.5 Storage guide: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.5/vsphere-esxi-vcenter-server-652-storage-guide.pdf.pdf.
Performing VMFS v5 and v6 configurations
Starting with vSphere 6.5, VMware has introduced a new VMFS version used for block-based storage: VMFS 6.
This new version adds new capabilities compared to previous filesystem versions:
Feature | VMFS-3 | VMFS-5 | VMFS-6 |
Supported ESXi versions | 3.x, 4.x, 5.x, and 6.x | 5.x and 6.x | 6.5 |
Disk partitions type | master... |
