S3 versioning
S3 versioning is a feature to manage and store multiple versions of an object. It provides you with a capability to protect accidental deletes or application logic failures. Versioning is disabled by default on the buckets and objects. Versioning can only be set on the bucket level and applied to all objects in the bucket. Once it is enabled, it cannot be fully disabled. Every time a file is uploaded, S3 will create a new version of the file, providing you with a great way for an easy retrieval of deleted objects or roll back to the previous versions. You can only suspend versioning. Suspending versioning prevents new versions from being created. All objects with existing versions will maintain their older versions after being suspended. Lifecycle policies can be applied to specific versions of an object. Both, versioning and lifecycle policies can be enabled on a bucket at the same time. You will learn about lifecycle policies in the next section.
