Working with BigDB


Player.IO provides a database service known as BigDB. The objects can be saved to BigDB and loaded from BigDB, and there is also a concept of "ownership" of a database entry (for instance, you can configure databases so that players are only allowed to modify their own DB entries).

Both the server and the client can access BigDB. Note that development servers have the same permissions as the player—be aware of this, as restricting player permissions will also restrict developer permissions.

Note

Note that BigDB is stored on Player.IO servers, not the local development server. The data can be viewed from the admin panel on the website. This data is stored per-game (for instance, so you cannot access the data for other games). Also be aware that no data is encrypted in Player.IO, so for instance storing passwords in plain text is not advised, just as with most conventional database systems.
