Like Chapter 4, Setting up the Switch, this chapter brings to youhands-on examples of the router'sconfiguration.That said, this chapter is designed to provide you with step-by-step instructions of configuring the main features of the router, as outlined in the objectives of the CCENT certification exam. Now that you have become familiar with a router's boot-up process in Chapter 5, Introduction to Routing, you will be introduced to a router's LED indicators, and how to connect a router to a PC. After that, you will be ready to run the initial configuration on a Cisco router.Then, the chapter provides more advanced router configurations, such as configuring both IPv4 and IPv6 IP addresses on router interfaces, configuring static routes and default static routes, and configuring Routing Information Protocol (RIP).
