Automated rebalancing
Since the Rebalance Cluster Action runs so well, we may want to implement some kind of repeatable or automatic rebalancing action to balance our datacenter.
We will take a look at various ways to achieve this. All of the options we are going to discuss can be mixed together to achieve the desired result.
Scheduling a rebalance action
The first option we are going to discuss is to schedule a rebalance action.
We can do this from the Are Clusters balanced? widget, by clicking on the Schedule rebalance action button:
We can then schedule rebalances to run once daily, weekly, or monthly.
The drawback here is that the rebalance will take place on a fixed schedule. What if contention occurs outside of the defined schedule and we want vRealize Operations to react quickly and rebalance the datacenter and not wait till the scheduled date comes?
