Managing remote Orchestrator


This recipe centres on using the multinode plugin. As this plugin is mostly used for operations and than for programming, it finds its place in this chapter. We will learn how to manage other Orchestrator installations.

Getting ready

We need at least two Orchestrator installations. You need to make sure that the SSL certificate of the server matches the hostname. If you have used the Orchestrator appliance and changed its IP or hostname, you will need to generate a new SSL certificate (see the Configuring the Orchestrator Service SSL certificate recipe in Chapter 2, Optimizing Orchestrator Configuration).

It is also quite important that both Orchestrator instances are compatible with each other. You will not be able to link a vCO 5.1 to a vRO (5.5.2.1 and higher), as the interface that is used is the REST interface. The REST interface was introduced in vCO 5.5.

The plugin that is required is the multinode plugin that is installed automatically with the 5.5 version...
