Creating datasets, lenses, and dashboards

This section describes how one can bring data to the Analytics Cloud from Salesforce and other sources, and derive meaningful insights from the data using lenses and dashboards.

Creating a dataset

A dataset is a container comprising of data from Salesforce, external systems, or a combination of both. The following are the steps involved in creating a dataset:

1. Navigate to the Wave Analytics application and use the Create button on the right to start creating a Dataset:

2. The dataset creation screen allows us to name the dataset and place it in the right folder. Also, you can select the data source. As you can see in the following screenshot, there are various third-party connectors, such as Informatica, Mulesoft, Jitterbit, Boomi, and so on, to connect to various data sources and bring data into the dataset. For our use case, let's select the data source as Salesforce Account Object:
