Assets newly discovered scenario

I advise that you have a report or alert notification sent to you if new assets are discovered in your ITAM/SAM system that you realized, you have not gone through the proper channels. For instance, a new software application/vendor has been introduced that you and your SAM team were never privy to and had not gone through your software approval process. You would go and research where the software came from, how it was approved, does it meet the company technology and security standards. You would then go and communicate this with the management, an architecture review board if one exists in your organization, and decide how to address this.

Having automated alerts or reports sent to you based on this criteria will allow you to review your inventory info either on a monthly or quarterly basis.
