Installing RethinkDB Server

At the time of writing this book, the current stable version of RethinkDB is 2.4.0 (Night Of The Living Dead), released on 19 December 2019. There are a few ways to install a RethinkDB server, depending on the platform (Ubuntu, or OS). You can check out the guide at https://rethinkdb.com/docs/install/ for your platform. Note Windows is not supported yet in 2.4.0. For more information about this issue for Windows, please visit https://rethinkdb.com/docs/install/windows.

In this book, we will install RethinkDB 2.4.0 on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa). It works the same if you are on Ubuntu 19.10 (Eoan Ermine), Ubuntu 19.04 (Disco Dingo), or the older versions of Ubuntu, such as 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver). Let's get started:

1. Add the RethinkDB repository to your list of Ubuntu repositories, as follows:
