Configuring legacy inter-VLAN routing
This section describes how to configure legacy inter-VLAN routing on a Cisco switch.
Scenario – Router with multiple interfaces
Referring to the definition about Legacy inter-VLAN routing discussed in the Inter-VLAN operation section of Chapter 3, Introduction to Switching, as well as Figure 4.7, it is apparent that in the inter-VLAN routing option, the router has multiple interfaces where each interface connects to a certain VLAN. Thus, after assigning IP addresses both on the PCs and router interfaces where each one belongs to a certain subnet, the router can then perform the inter-VLAN routing:
