Microservices and serverless architectures

As cloud computing advances, application design techniques are also advancing. One significant development is the microservice architectural style. Applications are structured an as a collection of loosely coupled services that combine to implement business capabilities. The microservice architecture is used to support the continuous delivery/deployment of large, complex applications. It also enables an organization to evolve its technology stack. Another important new approach is the exclusive use of third-party services that provide ephemeral containers using a just-in-time infrastructure provisioning model, called serverless computing. With this execution model, the cloud provider dynamically manages the allocation of machine resources. Pricing is based on the actual amount of resources consumed by an application, rather than on pre-purchased units of capacity.
