What is custom duty/charge?

Customs duty are charges levied on goods when they cross international borders. It is a tax that is imposed on imported goods. These duties are charged by special authorities and bodies created by local governments and are meant to protect local industries, economies, and businesses.

Do I have to pay customs charges for the print book order?

The orders shipped to the countries that are listed under EU27 will not bear custom charges. They are paid by Packt as part of the order.

A custom duty or localized taxes may be applicable on the shipment and would be charged by the recipient country outside of the EU27 which should be paid by the customer and these duties are not included in the shipping charges been charged on the order.

How do I know my custom duty charges?

The amount of duty payable varies greatly depending on the imported goods, the country of origin and several other factors like the total invoice amount or dimensions like weight, and other such criteria applicable in your country.

For example:

If you live in Mexico, and the declared value of your ordered items is over $ 50, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 19% which will be $ 9.50 to the courier service.
Whereas if you live in Turkey, and the declared value of your ordered items is over € 22, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 18% which will be € 3.96 to the courier service.

How can I cancel my order?

Cancellation Policy for Published Printed Books:

You can cancel any order within 1 hour of placing the order. Simply contact [email protected] with your order details or payment transaction id. If your order has already started the shipment process, we will do our best to stop it. However, if it is already on the way to you then when you receive it, you can contact us at [email protected] using the returns and refund process.

Please understand that Packt Publishing cannot provide refunds or cancel any order except for the cases described in our Return Policy (i.e. Packt Publishing agrees to replace your printed book because it arrives damaged or material defect in book), Packt Publishing will not accept returns.

What is your returns and refunds policy?

Return Policy:

We want you to be happy with your purchase from Packtpub.com. We will not hassle you with returning print books to us. If the print book you receive from us is incorrect, damaged, doesn't work or is unacceptably late, please contact Customer Relations Team on [email protected] with the order number and issue details as explained below:

If you ordered (eBook, Video or Print Book) incorrectly or accidentally, please contact Customer Relations Team on [email protected] within one hour of placing the order and we will replace/refund you the item cost.
Sadly, if your eBook or Video file is faulty or a fault occurs during the eBook or Video being made available to you, i.e. during download then you should contact Customer Relations Team within 14 days of purchase on [email protected] who will be able to resolve this issue for you.
You will have a choice of replacement or refund of the problem items.(damaged, defective or incorrect)
Once Customer Care Team confirms that you will be refunded, you should receive the refund within 10 to 12 working days.
If you are only requesting a refund of one book from a multiple order, then we will refund you the appropriate single item.
Where the items were shipped under a free shipping offer, there will be no shipping costs to refund.

On the off chance your printed book arrives damaged, with book material defect, contact our Customer Relation Team on [email protected] within 14 days of receipt of the book with appropriate evidence of damage and we will work with you to secure a replacement copy, if necessary. Please note that each printed book you order from us is individually made by Packt's professional book-printing partner which is on a print-on-demand basis.

What tax is charged?

Currently, no tax is charged on the purchase of any print book (subject to change based on the laws and regulations). A localized VAT fee is charged only to our European and UK customers on eBooks, Video and subscriptions that they buy. GST is charged to Indian customers for eBooks and video purchases.

I had the opportunity to be a tech reviewer on this new how to software Book: “Photo Editing Made Easy with Affinity Photo” By: Jeremy Hazel.Jeremy did an excellent job covering all the essential knowledge, tools, and workflows needed to become a master at Image Editing in Affinity Photo and other similar programs. He provides plenty of working examples that will push you from a novice to professional if you consistently work at it.There were some interesting tips and techniques I learned about layers and effects while I was reviewing and giving my feedback for all 18 chapters on a weekly basis.-Mike

i really enjoyed this book and it's lessons! the ability to have the pdf and the example files were just what i wanted! on the construction comment side: i got a little lost on the lesson on 'sandwiching' flowers in a glass and so many crazy 'blend modes' i still don't understand well. all in all, this is a GREAT way to get better at affinity photo!!!

Wow, this is an incredible resource for anyone who is using Affinity photo as a beginner or even if you've been using it for a while. Just take a look at the table of contents or the index to see how extensive this book is. Jeremy has done a great job breaking down complicated topics for new photographers - going beyond simply how to use the editing application. You'll come away confident knowing how to properly use Affinity Photo to edit your photos. Great work! Highly recommended!

This book covers almost everything you may need when using Affinity Photo's expansive set of tools!It is well written and has several visual guides to guide you to using Affinity Photo in a way thought to only be seen by seasoned pros. Hazel did an amazing job in covering even the smallest of details in this massive photo editor.This book will teach anyone how to use the tools Affinity Photo gives to the users' disposal to the highest capability. Using a few of the techniques outlined in the book, I edited this picture I took of an American Bison. For the final product of this image, I ended up using color grading adjustments, linear gradients for highlighting the subject and color correcting the sky, brush color corrections to make the details of the bison more visible, and healing/clone tools to remove background distractions. I've attached the original and edit to this post, I'm happy I took the time to edit a photo I took several months ago.Note: I was given a copy of this book to leave a review. However, I was not instructed to leave a specifically positive comment, I actually quite enjoyed this book!

Although I believe that beginners will get the most out of this book, I do believe that seasoned artist and editors will find many gems. It is well written from beginning to end with insight and useful tips along the way. The book flows and is easy to navigate and understand. Beginners get reference projects and use the tools they need to advance their capabilities. There are plenty of examples especially in touch up and design. As stated, I think this is more for the beginner and that should be kept in mind. Advanced users will be able to skip steps, although it may be wise to just follow and see if there is a more efficient way of doing the same old task. I think this is a book you are going to want on your shelf for reference and sometimes when someone else is looking for your expertise and you don't have time you can hand the book over and say I know you can find it in here.
