What is custom duty/charge?

Customs duty are charges levied on goods when they cross international borders. It is a tax that is imposed on imported goods. These duties are charged by special authorities and bodies created by local governments and are meant to protect local industries, economies, and businesses.

Do I have to pay customs charges for the print book order?

The orders shipped to the countries that are listed under EU27 will not bear custom charges. They are paid by Packt as part of the order.

A custom duty or localized taxes may be applicable on the shipment and would be charged by the recipient country outside of the EU27 which should be paid by the customer and these duties are not included in the shipping charges been charged on the order.

How do I know my custom duty charges?

The amount of duty payable varies greatly depending on the imported goods, the country of origin and several other factors like the total invoice amount or dimensions like weight, and other such criteria applicable in your country.

For example:

If you live in Mexico, and the declared value of your ordered items is over $ 50, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 19% which will be $ 9.50 to the courier service.
Whereas if you live in Turkey, and the declared value of your ordered items is over € 22, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 18% which will be € 3.96 to the courier service.

How can I cancel my order?

Cancellation Policy for Published Printed Books:

You can cancel any order within 1 hour of placing the order. Simply contact [email protected] with your order details or payment transaction id. If your order has already started the shipment process, we will do our best to stop it. However, if it is already on the way to you then when you receive it, you can contact us at [email protected] using the returns and refund process.

Please understand that Packt Publishing cannot provide refunds or cancel any order except for the cases described in our Return Policy (i.e. Packt Publishing agrees to replace your printed book because it arrives damaged or material defect in book), Packt Publishing will not accept returns.

What is your returns and refunds policy?

Return Policy:

You will have a choice of replacement or refund of the problem items.(damaged, defective or incorrect)
Once Customer Care Team confirms that you will be refunded, you should receive the refund within 10 to 12 working days.

What tax is charged?

Currently, no tax is charged on the purchase of any print book (subject to change based on the laws and regulations). There are so many cybersecurity books and manuals (as alluded to in this book by Moyle and Kelley) that one can read to advance their knowledge. They are, however, often dry and written for someone with either no experience whatsoever, or the expert who doesn't need any background or basic information.This book accomplishes writing to both the novice and the expert, and does so in an interesting, engaging way. Further, it addresses a significant problem in the cybersecurity industry today, this is, the need for thoughtful, careful planning, Having worked in the field for 15+ years, I see enterprise practitioners rushing to implement tools and processes just to be able to check a box. But this is exactly what leads to vulnerabilities.The authors, as promised in the title, lay out a practical approach to architecture based on planning, assessment, and review, from initial stages through execution. Bravo.

The way this book is laid out, it puts together all the components to scope and build a secure architecture. By engineering the network architecture to be reliable, robust and secure, you save money, time, and avoid the regulatory nightmares (when a breach inevitably happens). I love how the authors go beyond the basic building blocks to also discuss soft issues, like finding a champion in your organization to help support the security mission, and talking the talk of business NOT cyber so that the leaders can work with your objectives. So many more nuggets in here. It has all the elements needed for secure architecture in ONE read. Very USEFUL reference guide.

It's great to see a plain language cybersecurity architecture book that can be understood by most IT professionals. Cybersecurity is inherently a complex subject that is ever changing with adoption of new technologies like multi-cloud, Edge computing , AI, and even cryptocurrency. They all require security architecture and this book will give you the background to understand it.

I confess. I got this book as a referral from a friend and colleague – it was a dog-eared copy with quite a few underlined and highlights prior to my read. I always look for the highlights when I respect the colleague. I agree with @Marcos- “The methodologies outlined in the book are instructive, intriguing, and helpful in understanding the techniques that modern-day security professionals should keep top of mind.” This book did further my understanding of the standards in cybersecurity. NOT a long read at 400 pages, but the authors conversational tone allows for a good read. I did add a few highlights of my own to my colleague’s copy – but in a different color highlight. Good writing and great tone added to a quick read of 400 pages.
