It skillfully addresses BaseOps, FinOps, and DevSecOps, and integrates practical use cases like IoT and Web3, making it highly applicable to real-world scenarios. Personally, it enhanced my understanding of linking business needs with infrastructure. The book's coverage of Azure, AWS, GCP, and emerging players like OCI and Alibaba Cloud is comprehensive, providing tools and strategies for optimizing costs and security in cloud environments. Ideal for cloud architects and consultants, this edition is an essential guide for mastering multi-cloud operations and strategy.

The book offers comprehensive and detailed narrative around an increasingly important subject. From high-level topics, like identifying the business needs, values, and requirements, and organizational transformations to low-level implementation details, like infrastructure architecture and application design, and everything in between, like optimizing costs and implementing robust security controls, the author spares no expense covering every facet of such a complex journey as enterprise multi-cloud.This book serves as an equally indispensable guide for organizations that are considering embarking on this journey and ones that are several years into their journey alike.

I am impressed by the detail of book's coverage in terms of different domains: security, networking, IAM and so on. More importantly, it covers all major cloud providers. This is essential when a company start thinking about multi-cloud strategy seriously. The book is definitely a must read for cloud architects.

In the last 8 years, A lot of things have changed, specifically in the cloud infrastructure space. I have got the opportunity to work on infrastructure and big data systems on AWS, Azure, and GCP. Cloud adoption was increasing at its own pace. But most businesses were sceptical about moving to the cloud from their own managed on-premise datacenter. One of my clients in the past even said that the cloud is for those companies that are early-stage startups or those that lack the budget to maintain their own infrastructure. But now it is not so. Post-Covid, Research conducted by Accenture found that 90% of enterprises had "adopted cloud technology in some form". On average, those enterprises only had about 20–40% of their workloads in the cloud. Now Businesses are even moving to a multi-cloud Infrastructure to get the maximum benefit from a cloud environment. With a multi-cloud architecture, the IT department of a company selects the best services from various providers on the basis of their requirements, geographical availability, and other factors. This week I have gone through the amazing book "Multi-Cloud Strategy for Cloud Architects" by Jeroen Mulder. Some of the things I like about the book are:1. If you are moving to a Cloud Solution Architect Role, It will help you get your basics right.2. Focuses on managing public clouds by leveraging Baseops, FinOps, and DevSecOps Principles.3. Includes All Major Public Cloud providers such as AWS, Azure,GCP, Oracle, and Alibaba Cloud.4. Master multi-cloud concepts and provide the best solution architecture using the best of all major public clouds.

Jeroen provides a very through and comprehensive view on Multi-Cloud Strategy (MCS) that covers all the common challenges faced by architects (like me as one example). The other common theme I see with customers that he points out is all the MCS benefits that gives us a great foundational guide for the use in the field. As well helps us define what the approach is as comparing all the (3) major hyperscalers. He has a good sense of what technical depth is need to support a MCS with real world case studies and use cases. We also see how the technology is really evolving where we see customers use AWS for "Big Data" and perhaps Azure and GCP as Secondary sites and backups for these large DWH sites. It's amazing how much data goes into these areas and this guide help us on a theoretical balance.

Can I download the code files for Early Access titles? Chevron down icon Chevron up icon

We try to ensure that all books in Early Access have code available to use, download, and fork on GitHub. This helps us be more agile in the development of the book, and helps keep the often changing code base of new versions and new technologies as up to date as possible. When we publish the book, the code files will also be available to download from the Packt website.
