Working with translations
Magento has the ability to run a store in multiple languages. Every store view has a language, and Magento has a system to translate the interface into that particular language.
Getting ready
Open the backend and go to the store configuration at Stores | Configuration | General. We will configure the French language for the default store view.
How to do it…
The following steps show how we can translate the interface of Magento in a specific language:
First, we will configure the default language of the store view. In the backend, go to Stores | Configuration | General and change the locale to the preferred value. In Magento, the following language packs are installed:
en_US—English (United States)de_DE—German (Germany)es_ES—Spanish (Spain)fr_FR—French (France)nl_NL—Dutch (Netherlands)pt_BR—Portuguese (Brazil)zh_CN—Chinese (China)
