Architecture and concepts

As we learned earlier in Chapter 3, Architecture and Deployment, development experience and architecture has completely changed and been modernized in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Enterprise edition, as compared to the earlier version, Dynamics AX 2012. Many new concepts have been introduced and many have been changed. In this section, we will explore these new and changed development concepts in detail.

Programming language

The X++ language remains the vehicle a developing application for Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Enterprise edition. Those who don't know what X++ is, it is a native programming language used in the development of Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Enterprise edition since the beginning of the product known as Axapta.
