I was not paid for this review, nor have they asked me what to say.This is a great book for inexperienced developers looking to get into Python the right way. The author is knowledgable and introduces concepts in a very easy to understand manner. The book is definitely dense, however! I would recommend taking a first pass at this book, but leaving to on the desk as a reference text as you continue to learn.One of the things I really like about this book is that the author really focuses on teaching readers to write Python the way it was meant to be written. "Pythonic" code is one of those things that you need to see to understand what it is, but this book definitely gives a great demonstration of pythonic code. Part of writing Pythonic code is understanding context - and Mariano does a solid job of ensuring readers that there are contexts where practicality is more important than purity.Overall - whether you're new to programming, or you're already a programmer but looking to get into Python - give this book a go, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Clean Code in Python - Second Edition has helped me begin to fill some of the gaps in my code education. My sincere thanks to Packt Publishing for giving me the opportunity to review it!PROS:- It's great for an inexperienced developer. The author clearly knows his stuff. I would be hard-pressed to name another Python book that goes into this level of detail.- This is an excellent technical reference for Python. I can envision a time when, thanks to this book, I won't have to visit StackOverflow half as much.CONS:This book is DENSE. It truly is a reference text wherein the author gets down to business and doesn't tiptoe around the point. Some authors are horrible about that and fill their work with unnecessary anecdotes or ridiculous metaphors. This author did none of that. To me however, the lack of anecdotes detracts somewhat from the readability.BOTTOM LINE:The best thing about this book is the real-world use cases highlighted by the author. I typically work alone when I code but could see how his development team-oriented approach would apply. It's a good reminder to make your code readable to other humans since, as he put it, the code is for us, not for the machine.In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking to clean up their act: one-person or small development teams, rogue analysts, or hobbyists looking to take the plunge into production coding.

As someone who is getting back into Python after many years, this book is a Godsend. This is an extremely valuable and rigorous work which covers the best practices for writing clean code. As a developer I can't express how important clean code is when working in a team or when simply publishing code. This book thoroughly goes through every aspect you need to know about; formatting, documentation and tooling. Later topics such as Pythonic code and the best traits of good code are covered. This book fills me with confidence when approaching writing Python code and has really helped me. Also and vitally important; testing and design patterns are covered in detail. This book is really exceptional and highly recommended.

This os a great book for someone who wants to explore the Python language and has some prior programming experience.The book takes you on a journey starting from setting up the development environment using correct tools and giving a nice detailed walkthrough for better use of the tools and the language.This book emphasizes on Pythonic way of writing code along with some best practices which are not mentioned in other books i have read. The best principles discussed in the book are presented nicely to give readers an idea of the correct way to write python code.This book also covers unit testing frameworks and some common design principles used in Python.Overall, this book is exceptionally written and content is easy to understand and keeps you motivated right through the end.I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning more about Python and correct usage of the language and the tools.

The last project I remember using Python for was a game side-project with PyGame (a lot of fun 🎮). That was several years ago. Recently, I had an opportunity to work on a large Python code base, so I was excited to use the language in a professional setting. Still, I knew I had a bit of relearning to do.Sure, I know the fundamental Python syntax to accomplish the task at hand. I could get the job done with that knowledge alone. However, to the experienced Python developer, it would be clear that I was coming from another language without writing idiomatic Python. I'd be missing out on the parts of Python that make it so unique, powerful, and elegant.I wanted to learn about Python approaches to following clean code principles and implementing specific code patterns from my experience in other languages like C#. Clean Code in Python has been an incredible resource for me in this regard. As the title suggests, it covers aspects of what makes clean code; SOLID principles, unit testing, and more.If you're interested in going beyond the language's basic syntax to begin writing clean, idiomatic Python, check this book out! I highly recommended it.
