Summary

In this chapter, we explored the basics of ArcGIS Online, and created a public account, which allows us to publish data from ArcGIS for Desktop, or to load data into the Cloud. With this account and the published services, we can share data, create web maps, and even create complex web mapping applications without coding.

In the next chapter, we will explore the use of Python for ArcGIS Online data management. We will use the ArcGIS API for Python, which allows us to automate the process outlined earlier, as well as many other common data management tasks.
