What is custom duty/charge?

Customs duty are charges levied on goods when they cross international borders. It is a tax that is imposed on imported goods. These duties are charged by special authorities and bodies created by local governments and are meant to protect local industries, economies, and businesses.

Do I have to pay customs charges for the print book order?

The orders shipped to the countries that are listed under EU27 will not bear custom charges. They are paid by Packt as part of the order.

A custom duty or localized taxes may be applicable on the shipment and would be charged by the recipient country outside of the EU27 which should be paid by the customer and these duties are not included in the shipping charges been charged on the order.

How do I know my custom duty charges?

The amount of duty payable varies greatly depending on the imported goods, the country of origin and several other factors like the total invoice amount or dimensions like weight, and other such criteria applicable in your country.

For example:

If you live in Mexico, and the declared value of your ordered items is over $ 50, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 19% which will be $ 9.50 to the courier service.
Whereas if you live in Turkey, and the declared value of your ordered items is over € 22, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 18% which will be € 3.96 to the courier service.

How can I cancel my order?

Cancellation Policy for Published Printed Books:

You can cancel any order within 1 hour of placing the order. Simply contact [email protected] with your order details or payment transaction id. If your order has already started the shipment process, we will do our best to stop it. However, if it is already on the way to you then when you receive it, you can contact us at [email protected] using the returns and refund process.

Please understand that Packt Publishing cannot provide refunds or cancel any order except for the cases described in our Return Policy (i.e. Packt Publishing agrees to replace your printed book because it arrives damaged or material defect in book), Packt Publishing will not accept returns.

What is your returns and refunds policy?

Return Policy:

We want you to be happy with your purchase from Packtpub.com. We will not hassle you with returning print books to us. If the print book you receive from us is incorrect, damaged, doesn't work or is unacceptably late, please contact Customer Relations Team on [email protected] with the order number and issue details as explained below:

If you ordered (eBook, Video or Print Book) incorrectly or accidentally, please contact Customer Relations Team on [email protected] within one hour of placing the order and we will replace/refund you the item cost.
Sadly, if your eBook or Video file is faulty or a fault occurs during the eBook or Video being made available to you, i.e. during download then you should contact Customer Relations Team within 14 days of purchase on [email protected] who will be able to resolve this issue for you.
You will have a choice of replacement or refund of the problem items.(damaged, defective or incorrect)
Once Customer Care Team confirms that you will be refunded, you should receive the refund within 10 to 12 working days.
If you are only requesting a refund of one book from a multiple order, then we will refund you the appropriate single item.
Where the items were shipped under a free shipping offer, there will be no shipping costs to refund.

On the off chance your printed book arrives damaged, with book material defect, contact our Customer Relation Team on [email protected] within 14 days of receipt of the book with appropriate evidence of damage and we will work with you to secure a replacement copy, if necessary. What tax is charged?

Currently, no tax is charged on the purchase of any print book (subject to change based on the laws and regulations). “Tableau Desktop Specialist Certification” by Adam Mico and PACKT PUBLISHING LIMITED is a great read for anyone trying to obtain the “Tableau Specialist” certification. The book aligns VERY well with the Certification Exam guide available on Salesforce’s website.Many great practice opportunities and great info on all the necessary topics in Tableau — from connecting to and cleaning up your data, how Tableau’s data model works, creating basic visualizations, calculated field syntax and overview of LOD expressions, all about dimensions, measures, and marks (oh my!), and even developing and modifying a dashboard in Tableau is covered, and the mock questions at the end of each chapter (as well as a 40 question mock-up test at the end of the book) will surely help anyone feel prepared and ready to conquer the certification! Favorite section: “Working with Dimensions, Measures, and Marks (Oh My)”Happy analyzing friends — this book is highly recommended for those brand new to Tableau, and if you’re like me and have spent some time away—but have been part of the Tableau community and just need to catch up on skills learned in the past, it is a great refresher!Well done all around!

Over the last few weeks, I've been reviewing Adam Mico's Tableau Desktop Specialist Certification - it's a book I wished I had when I transitioned from a job in finance to working with data every day.What I enjoy about the book is by page 8 I'm diving into my first example, working with data and creating charts with Tableau. After which you learn:Chart creation and the business insights different charts offerData types, dimensions and measuresPowerful and time-saving functionsData sources modifications to gain the best performanceInteractivity with filters, actions, animations and much moreThroughout the book, there's a large focus on practical learning designed to guide you from having no background in data to gaining valuable data skills and the knowledge to pass Tableau Desktop Specialist's Certification. Plus sections to test your knowledge as well as a mock exam, with answers and links back to the relevant sections.I've recommended this book to friends who want to gain some data skills and launch their careers further.

If you know of Adam Mico, you know that he is a respected voice in the Tableau community, colloquially dubbed as the “Mayor of the Datafam”. I recently had the opportunity to read his book, "Tableau Desktop Specialist Certification". I can confirm that it is an excellent resource for getting to know Tableau in general as well as a solid reference for material that will help you earn the specialization.You’ll start with an overview of the certification and its benefits, followed by multiple sections that cover data ingestion, chart interpretations, working with dimensions, measures and marks, and creating calculations and functions.There are quick summarizations and knowledge checks at the end of each chapter, which provide a helpful way to reinforce the concepts learned in that section. I found the book comprehensive and easy to read. This is a great add to your data analysis / data viz library. I will personally keep it in my rotation for reference and teaching.

“Tableau Desktop Specialist Certification” by Adam Mico and PACKT Publishing Limited is a book that is a great resource for those who have questions on preparing for the Tableau Certification exam. Whether it’s questions like, “Is getting a Tableau certification for me?” to “What is covered in the exam?” and “How do I sign up for an exam?” to the nerve wracking “How extensive does my Tableau knowledge need to be for me to be confident that I’ll pass?”The book’s contents are thorough and in depth with supporting annotated screenshots for everything and anything Tableau related to pass the certification exam. For me, a tricky thing that I’ve found about learning Tableau is that it’s very visual, where it can be easy to get stuck by little “gotchas” that learning users can easily get stuck on. As someone who 5 years worth of experience with Tableau, I walked away learning new ways to explain Parameters (I personally loved the Batman and Robin analogy for Parameters and Calculated Fields), confidence in the difference between using DATEADD and DATEDIFF, and Tableau’s order of operations. I learned Tableau primarily through crash course tutorials mixed with trial and error experience, and I find it immensely helpful when foundational (but easily missed) aspects of Tableau are plainly laid out. In addition, I typically struggle with reading through technical books and appreciate that while the knowledge checks are comprehensive and reinforce the learnings, they aren’t designed to be incredibly laborious to get through. Big fan!Long story short, I wish I had a book like this when I first started out in Tableau, especially when I was first looking for Tableau specific jobs. I was always worried that my lack of certification would have me passed over by recruiters and hiring managers, but I was always very overwhelmed by the certification process. A book like “Tableau Desktop Specialist Certification” by Adam Mico and PACKT Publishing Limited would have been an invaluable resource for me to lean on during this time, it would have felt like a friend holding my hand throughout the (self admittedly) intimidating process. I particularly like that Adam highlights the benefit of getting a Tableau certification, even when there are people who don’t have it or even need it in the long run. I found his argument compelling enough that I’m now reconsidering my general avoidance to get the certification (“I’ll get it next year,” I tell myself even though I’ve been using Tableau in my day to day for five years). Overall, this book demystifies the whole process into tangible self-paced steps that is a much more approachable task.
