What is custom duty/charge?

Customs duty are charges levied on goods when they cross international borders. It is a tax that is imposed on imported goods. These duties are charged by special authorities and bodies created by local governments and are meant to protect local industries, economies, and businesses.

Do I have to pay customs charges for the print book order?

The orders shipped to the countries that are listed under EU27 will not bear custom charges. They are paid by Packt as part of the order.

A custom duty or localized taxes may be applicable on the shipment and would be charged by the recipient country outside of the EU27 which should be paid by the customer and these duties are not included in the shipping charges been charged on the order.

How do I know my custom duty charges?

The amount of duty payable varies greatly depending on the imported goods, the country of origin and several other factors like the total invoice amount or dimensions like weight, and other such criteria applicable in your country.

For example:

If you live in Mexico, and the declared value of your ordered items is over $ 50, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 19% which will be $ 9.50 to the courier service.
Whereas if you live in Turkey, and the declared value of your ordered items is over € 22, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 18% which will be € 3.96 to the courier service.

How can I cancel my order?

Cancellation Policy for Published Printed Books:

You can cancel any order within 1 hour of placing the order. Simply contact [email protected] with your order details or payment transaction id. If your order has already started the shipment process, we will do our best to stop it. However, if it is already on the way to you then when you receive it, you can contact us at [email protected] using the returns and refund process.

Please understand that Packt Publishing cannot provide refunds or cancel any order except for the cases described in our Return Policy (i.e. Packt Publishing agrees to replace your printed book because it arrives damaged or material defect in book), Packt Publishing will not accept returns.

What is your returns and refunds policy?

Return Policy:

We want you to be happy with your purchase from Packtpub.com. We will not hassle you with returning print books to us. If the print book you receive from us is incorrect, damaged, doesn't work or is unacceptably late, please contact Customer Relations Team on [email protected] with the order number and issue details as explained below:

If you ordered (eBook, Video or Print Book) incorrectly or accidentally, please contact Customer Relations Team on [email protected] within one hour of placing the order and we will replace/refund you the item cost.
Sadly, if your eBook or Video file is faulty or a fault occurs during the eBook or Video being made available to you, i.e. during download then you should contact Customer Relations Team within 14 days of purchase on [email protected] who will be able to resolve this issue for you.
You will have a choice of replacement or refund of the problem items.(damaged, defective or incorrect)
Once Customer Care Team confirms that you will be refunded, you should receive the refund within 10 to 12 working days.
If you are only requesting a refund of one book from a multiple order, then we will refund you the appropriate single item.
Where the items were shipped under a free shipping offer, there will be no shipping costs to refund.

What tax is charged?

Currently, no tax is charged on the purchase of any print book (subject to change based on the laws and regulations). Reading “Mastering Adobe Animate 2023” has been amazing. I didn’t know about the history, and I also didn’t know so many great animated series were made with Adobe Animate!!As someone who is new to animation, I loved that this book provided many resources to start with as well as easy to follow directions. I highly recommend Joseph Labrecque's 2023 edition of Mastering Adobe Animate to anyone who wants to learn and explore the world of Adobe Animate. The author provides a comprehensive guide to the software, with practical exercises that cover everything from basic 2D animation principles, Virtual Reality use and also to create runtime applications for Windows and MacOS platforms. Labrecque's book is very user-friendly and easy to follow, and each chapter concludes with a summary to aid readers in their research.His professional guidance and expertise in the field make this book a must-have for anyone interested in animation and web game programming.

Author and Adobe Education Leader Joseph Labrecque offers a truly comprehensive guide to Adobe Animate animation software in this 430+ page book, with hands-on labs that cover everything from basic 2D animation principles to using virtual reality to creating Runtime applications for all common platforms.Whether you are a beginner or already experienced in the field, this book is for everyone. The fact that the book is already in its third edition is a testament to the high quality. The book starts with the basics and the basic understanding of computer animations in general and how to use Animate to then animate the first elements and create the first small GIF files and videos from them.Then it's about different animation techniques, layer methods, camera position, image depth, filters and effects. After that, it's about motion sequences and kinematics, warped objects, interactive programming techniques, web-based games, virtual reality, creating programs for desktop and mobile through to in-app extensions and scripting.Labrecque's book is written in a very user-friendly and easy-to-understand manner, and each of the 13 chapters ends with a summary to aid the reader in their research.His professional guidance and expertise in the field make this book a standard reference for anyone interested in animation and web game and animation programming.I can heartily recommend this book to everyone!

If you are new to Adobe Animate this is a great resource on how to use the many of the features of the program and how to familairlize yourself with the workspace for your desired project. Each chapter comes with exercise files that include artwork so you don't have to spend any time drawing assets you can get started on animating them right away! For the exercise files, the author provides one untouched "starter" file where you learn from scratch, but if you want to take a look ahead at the final product to see how it's done he provides a separate finished version with all the animation and/or code already in it which I found very helpful.Chapters 1-8 cover the essentials for 2D Animation in Animate like shapes, symbols, motion tweens, shape tweens, motion guides, and the drawing tools to name a few. You will also learn how to add more depth to your scenes with camera moves and layering techniques. If you like to animate with a rigged character there are chapters on how to do that which will create a smooth, flowing movement with all the parts of your character or object connected to one another making animating a lot less complicated.Later on there is some really fun stuff like how to make a game completely within Animate with a kitty that shoots fireballs at a flying pig, or a VR 360 scene where you are immersed in an outdoor park but depending on which way you look a spooky ghost may appear! I haven't kept up with what's new in Animate for a few years but wasn't even aware you could make VR scenes in it until this book.Labrecque obviously knows this program inside-out and is a great teacher to learn from proven by his status as an Adobe Education Leader and I would recommend this book to anyone out there looking to learn Animate.
