What is custom duty/charge?

Customs duty are charges levied on goods when they cross international borders. It is a tax that is imposed on imported goods. These duties are charged by special authorities and bodies created by local governments and are meant to protect local industries, economies, and businesses.

Do I have to pay customs charges for the print book order?

The orders shipped to the countries that are listed under EU27 will not bear custom charges. They are paid by Packt as part of the order.

A custom duty or localized taxes may be applicable on the shipment and would be charged by the recipient country outside of the EU27 which should be paid by the customer and these duties are not included in the shipping charges been charged on the order.

How do I know my custom duty charges?

The amount of duty payable varies greatly depending on the imported goods, the country of origin and several other factors like the total invoice amount or dimensions like weight, and other such criteria applicable in your country.

For example:

If you live in Mexico, and the declared value of your ordered items is over $ 50, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 19% which will be $ 9.50 to the courier service.
Whereas if you live in Turkey, and the declared value of your ordered items is over € 22, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 18% which will be € 3.96 to the courier service.

How can I cancel my order?

Cancellation Policy for Published Printed Books:

You can cancel any order within 1 hour of placing the order. Simply contact [email protected] with your order details or payment transaction id. If your order has already started the shipment process, we will do our best to stop it. However, if it is already on the way to you then when you receive it, you can contact us at [email protected] using the returns and refund process.

Please understand that Packt Publishing cannot provide refunds or cancel any order except for the cases described in our Return Policy (i.e. Packt Publishing agrees to replace your printed book because it arrives damaged or material defect in book), Packt Publishing will not accept returns.

What is your returns and refunds policy?

Return Policy:

We want you to be happy with your purchase from Packtpub.com. We will not hassle you with returning print books to us. If the print book you receive from us is incorrect, damaged, doesn't work or is unacceptably late, please contact Customer Relations Team on [email protected] with the order number and issue details as explained below:

If you ordered (eBook, Video or Print Book) incorrectly or accidentally, please contact Customer Relations Team on [email protected] within one hour of placing the order and we will replace/refund you the item cost.
Sadly, if your eBook or Video file is faulty or a fault occurs during the eBook or Video being made available to you, i.e. during download then you should contact Customer Relations Team within 14 days of purchase on [email protected] who will be able to resolve this issue for you.
You will have a choice of replacement or refund of the problem items.(damaged, defective or incorrect)
Once Customer Care Team confirms that you will be refunded, you should receive the refund within 10 to 12 working days.
If you are only requesting a refund of one book from a multiple order, then we will refund you the appropriate single item.
Where the items were shipped under a free shipping offer, there will be no shipping costs to refund.

What tax is charged?

Currently, no tax is charged on the purchase of any print book (subject to change based on the laws and regulations). From time to time I like to go back to the basics by reading books like "Blazor WebAssembly byExample". I think this book is in the Goldilocks zone of introductory books as it offers a good balance between theoretical concepts and hands-on practice. I love that the author guides the audience through the learning steps, providing additional tips, notes, and references at the same time. If you are new to Blazor, this is definitely a great book to start with. If you're willing to keep up with the latest changes like me, I recommend it again, as this is another opportunity to migrate from other front-end frameworks to one that's more integrated with the .NET ecosystem.

I’ve been using .NET for years but hadn’t used Blazor at all. I’ve watched parts of videos on the Blazor over the years but have always stuck with vuejs and ASP.NET (core) MVC for my web development work.I decided it was time to take a more serious look at Blazor WebAssembly.This book was able to get me up to speed very quickly with where this technology is and what it’s capable of. Toi’s wring style is warm and easily digestible. The book is a very easy to read. As a more seasoned developer, I was able to move through the book at a fairly fast clip. However, this book is quite suitable for a beginner.The book does assume some familiarity with programming in general and C# specifically, but the knowledge bar for this book is much lower than most. Toi has great attention to detail and walks the reader through installing all the tools used in the book, including Visual Studio Community Edition 2022, .NET 7.0 and SQL Server 2022 Express Edition. So that is to say that this book is _extremely_ approachable for people fairly new to programming.The book has a couple of intro chapters to paint the lay of the land for Blazor WebAssembly (which I found particularly helpful) and then it explores the topic through a bunch of hands-on examples. Toi provides very detailed instructions for doing each example, and all the code is available ahead of time from github as well. The examples are well chosen so that they touch on a wide variety of use cases.The examples start off pretty simple and progress to more complex situations. Since I had never even created the default WebAssemply App in Visual Studio, it was great that she started there and explained the structure of that project and the purpose of each file in the project. Having that solid base of understanding was super helpful for going through the other projects.The book includes a 40 page chapter on using Blazor WebAssembly to build Progressive Web Apps (PWAs), which is good since I sometimes wonder if that will be the largest use case of Blazor WebAssembly in the future. Only time will tell.If you are looking to better understand Blazor WebAssembly, and like me, you haven’t done anything with Blazor WebAssembly yet, then you will almost certainly like this book.

As someone new to Blazor WebAssembly, I wasn't sure how to get started. However, this book does a great job of being approachable for a beginner such as myself, and explains concepts like hosting models and project structures very clearly.Toi provides excellent examples with easy-to-follow steps for applications such as a simple game, shopping cart, kanban board, and expense tracker.Personally, I'm looking forward to extending these examples to create my own games and apps, and will use these examples as strong starting points when creating similar apps in future. Highly recommended.

Super excited to complete reading this book. It’s one of the most practical introductions to Blazor web assembly I have ever read. This book gives you hands-on practical usage of Blazor Web Assembly. The author, Toi B. Wright, explains each concept in great detail.The author explains the difference between Blazor server, Blazor web assembly, and Blazor hybrid, and when one is more applicable than the other. Starts up gradually with the basics of components, directives, state, and how events are handled using C#. Once the building blocks are covered, Toi takes it a step further by diving into building multiple projects that demonstrate the true feature of single page applications with Blazor, like building a weather app and making it a progressive web app. Other projects included an expense tracker, a Kanban board, and a task manager. The projects allowed me to reinforce my learning. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to take their C# and .Net skills to the front end and build applications utilizing C# at every layer.
