I've been learning Blazor and overall dotnet development for about 18months now at age 47, coming in with a huge infrastructure background. Any source that helps me learning more about Blazor gets my interest. This "Web development with Blazor - 2nd edition" is truly doing that for me, starting with the fundamentals, it quickly changes into real hands-on experience throughout each chapter.By going through the differences between Blazor Web Assembly and Blazor Server, I learned where one solution might be better than the other. In the following chapters, you are taken on a practical journey throughout different tasks and projects, building your own blog website. In the way the book flows, it feels like being part of a development team.Jimmy touches on authentication, Razor component-based development (which is important for Blazor app design), as well as providing a thorough description of JavaScript Interop, allowing you as developer to bring in some javascript capabilities into your Blazor apps. Dependency injection was another of those Blazor concepts I knew about, but in the way Jimmy explains the usage, I finally got it.Another section that really got my attention, as I haven't really found that topic being covered in any other Blazor book so far, was the chapter of application testing and debugging. I knew about unit testing, but Jimmy covers end-to-end testing and a few other concepts all in the same chapter. (It actually forced me into integrating testing in any project I'm working on in meantime...).I read a few other Blazor-oriented books in the last year and a half, but so far, this has been my favorite. The writing style, the depth of explanation, the real use case scenarios,... all that to motivate the 5-star rating.

This is a well-written guide on Blazor Development. It assumes no prior knowledge and steadily goes from level to level with each new chapter, exploring the ins and outs of Blazor development.I recommend.

I read and reviewed the first edition of this book when it was released about 18 months ago. I found the first edition to be a wonderful resource for developers who are familiar with .NET but new to Blazor.The format of this second edition is much the same, which is a good thing. It's been updated with the latest production versions of .NET 7 and Visual Studio 2022, and there is some brand new content both within existing chapters and some new chapters added. The new chapter on .NET Source Generators explains what they are, how they work, and explores some of the popular open-source community projects that leverage them. The new chapter I was anticipating most is the one on using Blazor with .NET MAUI to take your Blazor web application cross-platform into iOS and Android. It's a terrific opportunity for web developers to leverage their skills to get into the app stores.The book is professionally written, and all the sample code worked perfectly for me. If you're going to start working with Blazor, this is a great place to start.
