Troubleshooting in IT is a skill that you are going to master with time, meaning, each time you solve a problem, you gain more confidence, become more experienced, and you establish a knowledge base. That is why learning and practicing means a lot in IT because, while learning how to troubleshoot, you practice troubleshooting at the same time. With that in mind, the more you refine your mastery, the bigger the chances that you will solve problems and overcome issues.
The troubleshooting process (6.4.1)
Among dozens of available methodologies, there exists a six-step troubleshooting model known as the detect method, which is used by Microsoft Product Support Services engineers. The steps are as follows:
- Discover the problem: By gathering as much technical information as possible
- Evaluate system configuration: By asking questions to determine if any hardware, software, or network changes have been made recently
