Chapter 8. Dashboard Examples and Ideas

This chapter provides real-life examples of dashboards that my customers have found to be useful. It is broken into a set of use cases. Here are the use cases we are going to cover in this chapter:

• Use case—is virtualization causing a problem?

• Use case—managing the overall SDDC performance

• Use case—dashboards for the big screen

• Use case—storage performance management

• Use case—storage capacity management

• Use case—network performance management

• Use case—right-sizing large VMs

• Use case—capacity planning

For each use case, I will provide the rationale behind it. This will enable you to review the context and requirements behind the dashboard, so you can then tailor the dashboard to your own needs. Each use case may need more than one dashboard, as a big dashboard takes longer to load and increases complexity. Having said that, I strongly recommend you use full HD resolution so the widgets are not too small.
