In the following exercise we are going to use a paper presented at Virus Bulletin 2018: Inside Formbook Infostealer by the malware researcher Gabriela Nicolao: https://www.virusbulletin.com/uploads/pdf/magazine/2018/VB2018-Nicolao.pdf

Formbook is an infostealer that has been around at least since 2016, advertised in hacking forums by the user ng-Coder. Its code is written in ASM C (assembler inline instruction within C code). It has been used in several campaigns impacting the US and South Korea, and also related to some threat actors like SWEED or Cobalt.

In this section, we are going to learn how to map the Formbook infostealer behavior with ATT&CK™.

Valentina Costa-Gazcón is a cyber threat intelligence analyst who specializes in tracking Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) worldwide, using the MITRE ATT&CK Framework to analyze their tools, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs). She is a self-taught developer and threat hunter with a degree in translation and interpretation from the Universidad de Málaga (UMA) and a cyber security diploma from Argentina's Universidad Tecnológica Nacional (UTN). Valentina also is one of the founders of the BlueSpace community (BlueSpaceSec) and one of the core members of Open Threat Research, founded by Roberto Rodriguez (OTR_Community).
