Summary

In this chapter, we learned about the usage of emulators and simulators for automation. We saw how to set up mobile emulators, which are often thought of as the trickiest part in mobile automation. We then learned about the most commonly used automation tools and support frameworks. The code snippets in this chapter also came in handy while we learned how to work with real devices.

With the implementation of an automation framework like Appium, we have been able to learn the nuances of mobile automation with emulators. But, at the same time, we need to be aware of the limitations of this technique and this technique should not be relied upon for complete verification and validation of a mobile application. The only reliable way to validate mobile applications is to use real devices.

In the next chapter, we will focus on this aspect and will learn about the automation techniques that come prepackaged in real devices.
