Summary
In this chapter, we learned how to install ODL and also went through a basic installation process of ODL in a distributed environment. You can practice doing this on other operating systems, such as FreeBSD and Windows, as it is a cross-platform software application based on Java.
In the next chapter, we'll build a virtual OpenFlow-switching lab using ODL and Mininet. You will see how ODL utilizes the OpenFlow protocol to populate the flow tables of OpenFlow-enabled switches.
