Summary
In this chapter, we specifically concentrated on a very important feature slowly changing dimension. We talked about different types of SCDs, that is, SCD1, SCD2, and SCD3. We saw in detail how we use different transformations to achieve the SCD functionality. In the beginning of the chapter, we took an example to understand different types of SCDs. You learned how to maintain only current data in SCD1. We checked different forms of SCD2 mapping possible, that is, using version number, using flag, and using date range. We checked how SCD3 maintains partial data and how the wizard creates different columns in different types of SCD mapping.
In the next chapter, we will talk about another client screen called Informatica PowerCenter Workflow Manager. You will learn how to create workflows to execute mappings and how to add tasks. We will also have a discussion about adding the connection objects in workflow.
