pfSense troubleshooting tools
The first step in our approach to troubleshooting involves gathering information, and we are fortunate in that pfSense provides a good deal of information that relates to the functioning of your network. This information can be extremely helpful when troubleshooting problems. Since the pfSense dashboard provides a good overview of the system, we will begin with it.
Dashboard
You can gather a lot of information from the pfSense dashboard. When you first log in to the web GUI, the default landing page is the dashboard; you can also navigate to it from anywhere else in the web GUIvia Status | Dashboard on the main menu. This dashboard contains a generous amount of information about pfSense as it runs, including the uptime, CPU usage, memory usage, the version being run, and whether an upgrade is available for the version being run.
