Summary
In this chapter, we discussed the key driving factors that are making businesses decide to move to cloud-based infrastructures. Some of the key factors that we discussed in detail include infrastructure, locality of data, and the fulfillment of new requirements. Especially for small to mid-range companies, it is very hard to ignore these factors while setting up their IT infrastructure.
We then moved on to discuss the design considerations that you should consider while making decisions related to setting up IT infrastructure. One of the key considerations that we discussed in this chapter is the comparison of open source to the commercially available tools and technologies. We then discussed the utilization of commodity hardware against purpose-built hardware.
