TABLEAU PUBLIC
As mentioned in Chapter 8, the Tableau Public gallery is a wonderful source for inspiration. But it can also be a very useful publishing tool, when the goal is to share a Tableau visualization with the wider world. To use this tool, you must have an account on the platform, which can be set up free of charge. Note that this is a separate account from your Tableau Online, Tableau Server, or tableau.com account.
Keep in mind that, as the name suggests, anything you publish to Tableau Public will be seen by the general public. So, ensure that you are not publishing proprietary or sensitive information. The vast majority of use cases in an organization of course do not pass that test. For those, Tableau Online and Tableau Server are the tools to use. But there are cases where organizations deliberately use Tableau Public to share interesting insights from non‐sensitive data sources (such as public opinion surveys) with the world.
