TABLEAU ONLINE AND TABLEAU SERVER

Organizations that use Tableau Online or Tableau Server do so because they believe large parts of their workforce require access to up‐to‐date data sources and dashboards. I have seen a fascinating cultural change in several companies, where the entire organization moved away from emailing each other PDF reports and Excel files and toward having conversations around up‐to‐date numbers accessible via insightful dashboards.

Publishing

If you have access to Tableau Server or Tableau Online, you can publish your visualizations from Tableau Desktop with just a few clicks.

The Server menu in Tableau Desktop allows you to connect to these sharing platforms (see Figure 9.1).

Clicking Publish Workbook opens a dialog box that allows you to sign in to either of the two services, as shown in Figure 9.2.
