How do I buy and download an eBook?

Where there is an eBook version of a title available, you can buy it from the book details for that title. Add either the standalone eBook or the eBook and print book bundle to your shopping cart. Your eBook will show in your cart as a product on its own. After completing checkout and payment in the normal way, you will receive your receipt on the screen containing a link to a personalised PDF download file. This link will remain active for 30 days. You can download backup copies of the file by logging in to your account at any time.

If you already have Adobe reader installed, then clicking on the link will download and open the PDF file directly. If you don't, then save the PDF file on your machine and download the Reader to view it.

I had the opportunity to take a look at Packt Publishing's InfoSec Strategies and Best Practices by Joseph MacMillan - Cybersecurity Global Black Belt. This book provides a comprehensive handbook for building a strong cybersecurity program with integrated risk analysis and risk management strategies. Joseph does an amazing job of breaking down complex concepts in a simplistic form that is easy for even the novice reader to follow. This is an essential book for anyone that is looking for a playbook for architecting, monitoring, and managing InfoSec within your organization.

Joseph describes himself as a technological utopian and cybersecurity junkie. As an author I would describe him as a no-nonsense cybersecurity professional and this book is a testament to that.The book is non-pretentious and an easily readable crash-course in risk management, mitigation and how to operationalize your cyber-security. It’s on the top my worktable as reference book and when I hit a dead-end in my work I would flip through the pages and think – what would Joseph say? And normally this book would give some hints to how to move on for me and I believe this book can help you too!

I recently was given the opportunity to review this book by Packt and am appreciative of such.As a student, it is imperative that I gain the skills necessary to pursue a career in cybersecurity and this book gives a good baseline of what people should know and how to implement certain systems. This book gives ample detail of pertinent topics and is informative and digestible.Some books end up being too technical or not technical enough, but I think this book bridges that line pretty well, but maybe could lean more toward the more technical side since it is geared toward a more professional demographic.Overall, this book was a great top-level view of how information security is implemented in enterprise environments and I feel this will help me going forward in my professional career.

If you're new to the information security industry, or a need a good refreshment guide on current best practices, this is an excellent manual. Clearly written, with good examples and content thats not too dry, it also keeps the reading fresh and entertaining. Anyone coming into the infosec industry would find this a great guide, laying out not only the basics of this business (founding ideas, terminology etc) but goes into great detail about how to manage the workload and improve the processes. It would almost certainly be a good idea for many people already established in the industry to read this to catch any shortcomings and avoid common pitfalls! Overall an excellent book.
